Training on Conflict Sensitive Media Coverage in Transitional Justice Process to the Gambia
The Africa and West Asia Programme Office of International IDEA, in partnership with the Department of Political Affairs of the African Union Commission, the Ministry of Justice and the Executive Secretariat of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission of the Gambia, will hold the Training on Conflict Sensitive Media Coverage in Transitional Justice Process to the Gambia in Banjul to contribute to the development of a participatory, inclusive, transparent, accountable and smooth evolution of conflict-sensitive Transitional Justice Process.
This event will bring together nearly 50 participants from the media and representatives of the Ministry of Justice, National Assembly, civil society organizations and members of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (TRRC) to:
- Raise awareness of participants on the critical role of Conflict Sensitive Media Coverage of the activities and hearings of TRRC for the success of the Transitional Justice Process to the Gambia;
- Develop and enhance skills and capacities of participants on Conflict Sensitive Media Coverage of the activities and hearings of TRRC; and
- Assimilate changes in behaviours, relationships and practices by the media and members of TRRC in coverage of activities and coming hearings of TRRC.
